Steele Camp called. He and Diane Milliken came over to my place. They are old friends from San Antonio. Theyre going to Tech. I hadnt seen Diane in 7 years. She looked great! (note: Funny story. Diane was the first girl I ever kissed, last day of 6th grade. Diane was selected to be the South Plains Maid of Cotton in 1974, a big beauty contest in our area. I was a part-time cab driver, going to Tech. I had to go pick up two blind people at the Lubbock airport and had to go inside and find them. This just happened to be at the same time that Diane was getting her big sendoff to the State beauty contest, in Dallas, and was on a little stage, in the airport, with photographers flashbulbs going off. I walked by, with two blind people holding my arms, headed for my cab, and our eyes met. She just smiled, but she was already smiling. A scene right out of Harry Chapins Taxi song...) (Sad epilogue: Ive recently found Diane on Facebook.
