The Raven was written just for you! Edgar Allan Poe wrote this short story with an underlying theme of everlasting devotion. The anonymous narrator, is mourning the loss of his beloved Lenore and finds a sense of masochism within himself when The Raven comes wrapping and tapping at his window. Continuously asking questions to The Raven, he knows he will always receive the same reply in the form of Nevermore. Sometimes as self-healing human beings, we know that we need to face reality and accept the things we can never change; this includes loss of a loved one, whether its due to death or separation. By asking The Raven specific questions that the narrator already knew the answer to, he was attempting to make his worst fear confirmed and allow himself to wallow in the actuality of his despair. Have you ever felt the need to force yourself to be in pain? To maybe recognize that unpleasant certainties are a component of life in which we can never escape? If so, then its no surprise that The Raven is your Poe written work. But dont worry, everything happens for a reason and everyone heals with time.
