The Ray and Annie May Smith Family reunion was attended by approximately 100 persons. We were entertained with the history of Ray and Annie and their arrival and creation of a home and family in Manistee,beginning in 1932. Memories,poetry,videos,music were presented by members of the various generations present. Their son Alan and his wife came from the Virgin Islands where he has resided for over 40 years. The family and the invited guests shared laughter,humorous memories and some that brought tears to our eyes. The culmination of the evening was when daughter Lois Smith Owens read the proclamation from Manistee Mayor Colleen Kenny that August 2, 2014 had been proclaimed as ANNIE MAY AND RAY A. SMITH LEGACY DAY, what an honor to have Manistee recognize the contributions of this great family. My love to all 70 or so members that came from the humble but full of love, hard work and proud beginning at 99 PINE STREET, MANISTEE, MICHIGAN. The catered meal was delicious and served buffet style.
