The Real You by Theresa Goodine IT IS WRITTEN: Each time he said, "My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness." So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. 2 Corinthians 12:9 (NLT) The newspaper announced a book release I am doing, and I felt truly honored. I began to be concerned that perhaps there was too much of me in the article. During the telephone interview I hadn’t had any practiced responses and had no idea what was going to be asked. Basically, what happened was I poured my heart out about how amazing God has been to me. Upon reading the article I began to wonder if I should have sounded better somehow, more clever perhaps. Suddenly brought into my memory was the song I woke up hearing in the morning. Often I wake up hearing music, the first time it happened was when my father died. I woke up hearing beautiful music and somehow knew he’d passed. Since that time I wake up to music and it seems to always have a message in it for me somehow. This morning I woke up hearing, “the real you”. There is a song called “Show Me The Real You" Lyrics by Paul Colman Trio. Part of the lyrics I found were: Show me the real you, I wanna see the real you I’m here for the real thing and I wanna see the real you Tell the real truth, I wanna hear the real truth ‘Cause I’m here for the real thing and I wanna hear the real truth Shine your light, speak your truth… There is more to the song, but you get the idea. I felt God was telling me that it has to be the real me that people see. God doesn’t want me to sound clever; He just wants me to speak His truths. There will always be people who are more knowledgeable and eloquent than I am, He doesn’t care about that. God wants us to testify to the power and grace He’s shown us in our own lives. IT IS WRITTEN: Salvation and power are established! Kingdom of our God, authority of his Messiah! The Accuser of our brothers and sisters thrown out, who accused them day and night before God. They defeated him through the blood of the Lamb and the bold word of their witness. They weren’t in love with themselves; they were willing to die for Christ. Revelation 12:11 (MSG) It’s authentic Christianity that will draw people to the Lord. Part of being authentic is allowing others to see that you’re not so perfect. We’re just regular people doing the best we can and trusting God to deliver us to and through what we are called to face. The power of the Gospel comes alive in our own personal testimonies. We are the proof and saving grace God is showing the world. Don’t hide the real you, tell the truth, that God loves you just the way you are. Love & Blessings Theresa godhearsyou.ca
