The Red Hills Visitor Center and all interior roads in the Tucson Mountain District (TMD-west) have been closed in preparation for flooding associated with the remnants of Tropical Storm Odile. The roads in the area have flooded several times this summer, and we are expecting more rain from this storm than any other so far this year. In order to keep staff and visitors safe, we have made the decision to close and allow staff to evacuate from the area ahead of the storm. Please use caution traveling on any roads during or after the storm. Do not try to cross flooded washes, and be prepared to stop or slow down as you approach areas which have flooded. As water recedes it may leave debris on roadways which would be hazardous to motorists. Be smart and stay safe, we want to see you all tomorrow. (alf)
