The Relay Committee - consisting of Students from JC Charyk school asked me to share some information about Relay for Life with the parents of HPS. Everyone is welcome to come out and see the event on Friday Night. Relay for Life is a non-competitive and family-friendly overnight fundraising event for the Canadian Cancer Society. Teams fundraise in order to help the Canadian Cancer Society save lives, fund cancer research and support those who are facing cancer. Relay inspires hope and brings the community together for a night of music, food, games and fun. The Hanna relay is taking place on June 7th to 8th from 7pm to 7am at the Community Center and Hector King Hunter Park. Drop-ins are welcome throughout the night for those who are not participating on a team, with a twenty-dollar drop-in fee. The event night schedule is as follows: 7:00 pm – “Celebrate” Ceremony and First Survivor Lap 10:00 pm- “Remember” Ceremony and the Lighting of the Luminaries (The luminaries are placed in bags with a candle inside and are lit in a moving sunset ceremony to burn throughout the night, providing light and inspiration.) 2:30 am- “Fight Back” Ceremony There will also be live entertainment, games, music, contests, prizes and food all night long! Hope to see you there! Sincerely, The 2013 Hanna Relay for Life Committee
