The Reply given by the PAB Secretariat Mr. Thembeka Morris Ndlovu goes like this : Dear PAB I have been receiving many complaints from the Dancers on the Team KZN issue, to mention a few: If there are more please bring them to the attention of the PAB. 1. Last weekend practise, why some dancers were called and why some were not called. The only dancers informed to come to practice were those in the formation. 2. Some couples received messages asking only one(1) member of the couple to attend last weekends practice. Refer that couple to the Manager so that the Manager and yourself can explain the cause of that. 3. The issue of who is in the team and who isnt is still not clarified as Team KZN was selected in 2 competitions whereby some dancers thought they were selected and yet not called for Team KZN practise. ( I REQUEST A LIST OF ALL MEMBERS OF TEAM KZN 2014) All the dancers who were selected into the team were announced at the Ilembe Champs. No dancer was informed that they were in the team prior to that as the selection process was not completed. 4. The issue of transportation funds not being allocated to dancers, to go to practice is a huge factor, When they ask about this they are told Being in the team is a privilege and not a right Just for asking about Transportation fees. Fedansa KZN does not have funds allocated to transport dancers. If this happens it is because funds are allowing and dancers shall be informed timeously. Dancers MUST find sources to fund their transport. Parents, relatives, District and Local municipalities are a few examples. Privilege in this case meant a benefit or right enjoyed by a particular person or a restricted group of persons, everyone who is part of the team needs to understand the value of being in the team in this context. That is why there is a selection criteria. 5. The Issue of KZN Team practice always being in PMB/Howick was also raised by dancers as it raises a great deal of concern in the finance perspective. This is normally a budget issue. If any other district offered a venue and accomodation for free (which Michaelhouse in Balgowan offered), it would be used. PAB wrote a letter to Districts to take to their District and Local Municipalities for transporting their selected dancers. Amajuba obliged and the Municipality made a vehicle available for their dancers. 6. Also the issue of the Team KZN Manager not being allocated is a major downfall, as there is no one who will be accountable for the downfall and victory of the team. The Team Manager is Morris Ndlovu. 7. The issue of the Team KZN not having a ballroom nor Latin coach was also brought to me. This is not left unattended, we are negotiating with coaches who can avail themselves on one of the weekends to look at Team Match couples. We will inform you once we have finalised the names of the coaches and the date (probably on the 20th September). Remember we want to win the Inter-provincial as badly as ever!!! These are serious issues, one dancer requested transparency from the KZN PAB, and said centralization of power and information is very dangerous. One of the most serious issues is dancers not paying their membership fees but wanting to compete and get privileges they are not entitled to. Can i have a concrete reply before end of this week. This one is re-inforced concrete. Dancers are my first priority, this is for the Dancers by a Dancer. We appreciate you making Dancers your priority, but PAB EXCO unanimously agree that you need to be inducted on how to handle matters, and on your duties as they pertain to the Dancers Rep position. The main one is to be a link between PAB and dancers To make sure dancers are educated about the Federations Rules and Statues, policies and decisions/resolutions taken by the PAB Exco. To communicate. to dancers, such decisions/resolution as may be taken by PAB from time to time. To forge and maintain unity amongst the dance community and between dancers and the PAB. This list can only get longer. On normal circumstances you would refer matters to PAB first before making them public, that way you would publish questions with responses to dancers, and this will eliminate an element of confusion. Hope we have adequately dealt with the complaints.
