The Rewa soccer side is waiting for clearance from the Fiji - TopicsExpress

The Rewa soccer side is waiting for clearance from the Fiji Football Association on whether striker Iosefo Verevou can feature for the side in the National League on Saturday. Rewa plays Labasa in the opening round of the league on Saturday at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori. Verevou was initially fined $5000 and suspended for three years from all levels of football after breaking camp while with the Vodafone Fiji Under-20 team last year. Last year, Fiji FA announced that Verevou’s suspension had been reduced to $3360 and would remain suspended from all levels of football until July 31, after Rewa FA’s filed for arbitration against the decision. Fiji FA Board of Control discussed the issue during its meeting last month and it was resolved that since the Arbitration Tribunal had already ruled that the player must pay the fine of $3360 before playing at any level of football, Verevou, therefore was asked to pay his fine first. This fine has already been paid by Rewa FA. Fiji FA is expected to comment on this matter later today. Meanwhile, in the league games this weekend, Tailevu Naitasiri meets Nadi at 3pm, followed by the Rewa-Labasa clash. The league opening will also take place before the Rewa-Labasa game.
