The Richmond Sockeyes have drawn first blood in the PJHL - TopicsExpress

The Richmond Sockeyes have drawn first blood in the PJHL Championship series with a convincing 7-1 road victory tonight over the Aldergrove Kodiaks. After a week off for both teams, the Sockeyes broke out of the gate much faster than the Kodiaks, building a 4-0 first period lead and then playing solid defense over the final forty minutes. John Wesley, Liam Lawson and Matt Bissett each scored twice for Richmond who notched three goals on the power-play and one shorthanded. The Kodiaks won’t have long to dwell on tonight’s loss as they travel to Minoru Arena tomorrow night with a chance to even the series at one. A much stronger start will be expected from the Kodiaks, who took some time to find their legs tonight but improved after a disastrous first frame. The Sockeyes will look to take command of the series with the next two games being played in Richmond before returning to Aldergrove a week from tonight. 2013-2014 PJHL Championship Series Game 1: Richmond 7 at Aldergrove 1 Game 2: Aldergrove at Richmond - Thursday 7:00 Game 3: Aldergrove at Richmond - Sunday 5:45 Game 4: Richmond at Aldergrove - Wednesday 7:15
