The Richness of God’s Mercy and Grace in Action Paul opens his letter with three strong points that help us to see the purpose and hope that we have through God’s immeasurable mercy. WE HAVE A GREATER HOPE Ephesians 1:18-19a I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. The ultimate act of kindness was shown when God purchased our freedom through Christ’s sacrifice. As heirs of God’s kingdom (James 2:5), our inheritance isn’t measured in worldly wealth but with eternal life. Because of God’s mercy, we have a hope that is stronger than anything else we can find here on earth. WE HAE FREEDOM FROM OUR PAST WAYS Ephesians 2:1-2a “As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world” One of the best ways to see God’s grace on our lives is to look back to see where God has taken us from. I believe that as we grow in the wisdom of God’s Word, we can take those experiences and use them to encourage others who may be going through similar situations. WE ARE BEING CRAFTED FOR HIS GLORY Ephesians 2:22 “And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.” It awesome how Paul uses the continual tense in the phrase “are being” in this verse. How important it is to realize that everyday is another day in the workshop with God as he continues to shape us for his glory. It’s an ongoing process that just shows the immeasurable reach of God’s mercy on our lives. I ENCOURAGE EACH OF US TO grow in wisdom and knowledge of how to become a better steward of your money, time and possessions, always remember that it is because of the richness of God’s grace and mercy that we have the opportunity to steward those resources. Continue to share the hope of God’s grace with others!
