The Right Response To Christmas Not long ago, I read an article in a newspaper where a reporter went out on the street and asked people the simple question, “What is the real meaning of Christmas?” The answers I read fell into one of three categories: Sentimental: Christmas is about family … a time for children. Compassionate: Christmas is about loving our fellow man and celebrating the spirit of giving. Playful: Christmas is a time to party, give gifts and have fun. No person—not even one—said that Christmas is about Christ! How crazy is it to celebrate Christmas without giving any thought to the one person the season is named after! It would be like going to a birthday party without knowing the person whose birthday you’re celebrating! Without any doubt, Christmas is about Christ. It celebrates the day when the prophecy of Isaiah 7:14 was fulfilled: “Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel.” That name literally means, “God with us”! Don’t let this Christmas go by without acknowledging that God is with you in your life … He is your Immanuel. Reflect on Christ this Christmas. Thank God for providing salvation through Him. And receive that gift of eternal life! Prayer for the day: Thank God for sending Jesus, “God with us,” to save us from our sins. Accept Him into your heart and embrace His gift of eternal life today!
