** The Road to Recovery ** We are continuing to familiarise Boof with everything I need to use to rehabilitate him. We have started to use the custom Link Lead made by Tracy @ Loop Leads, this is designed to remove leash tension applied by the handler and to remove the direct link that our energy has through the leash to the dog. I often see the effects of human error when holding the leash of a nervous, anxious or fearful dog. It is the human response that often sees the behaviour escalate to aggression. Boof is directly connected to Missy and Tonka who display social bahaviour around humans on-leash, he is also surrounded by all of the dogs to build his confidence around people. The aim is for Boof to associate and mimic their body language and energy with humans approaching in a positive way. We took him up to the pool and allowed people to approach him doing laps swimming in the water, this allowed for a change in the association he has towards people entering his space, it has also started to build positive experiences. We have introduced the treadmill as a tool which we will use and his little mate Memphis was right there cheering the big guy on. Overall I am really happy with his progress on day 4, still a long way to go but he is doing really well.... TDF
