The Rosary Thursday 8th January 2015r Queen of the Holy Rosary, you came to Fatima to reveal to the three shepherd children the treasures of grace hidden in the Rosary. Inspire my heart with a sincere love of this devotion, in order that by meditating on the Mysteries of our Redemption which are recalled in it, I may obtain peace for the world, the conversion of sinners, and the favour which I ask of you in this Rosary (Mention your request). I ask it for the greater glory of God, for your own honour, and for the good of souls, especially for my own. I offer this Rosary for the purpose of knowing the Truth and obtaining contrition and pardon for my sins. Amen. With Mary, we will understand better the transforming power of the Eucharist. By listening to Mary, we will find in the Eucharist mystery the courage and energy to follow Christ, the good shepherd and to serve him as his people. The Rosary, while Marian in character, is a prayer with Christ at its centre. It contains all the depth of the Gospel message in its entirety. With the Rosary, we sit at the school of Mary and are led to contemplate the beauty of Christ and experience, in a profound way, the depths of his love. To recite the Rosary is nothing other than to contemplate the face of Jesus with Mary as our companion and teacher. Our faith tells us that Christ is really present today as he was 2000+ years ago with his Mother and disciples. What better way, therefore, to get to know our Lord, than saying the Rosary and meditating on his life Todays rosary prayers are the Luminous Mysteries: Christs baptism in the Jordan (Matt. 3:16-17) Intention: That each of us may have a greater awareness of the Holy Spirit Prayer: Lord Jesus, beloved of the Father, give to each of us eyes to see and ears to hear, that we may be able to recognise your Holy Spirit at work in your church and in our daily lives. Amen Christs self-manifestation at the wedding at Cana (John 2:1-11) Intention: That we may each be granted faith like Mary’s Prayer: Lord Jesus, grant to each of us a firm and lively faith. May we each learn to see your glory revealed in the sights, sounds and symbols of our faith. Amen Proclamation of the Kingdom of God and call to conversion (Mark 1:14-15) Intention: We pray to have hearts that are open and listen to the voice of the Lord Prayer: Lord Jesus, we believe in your promise to us of salvation. Grant to each os us a true spirit of repentance, that we may experience its fruits. Amen Transfiguration (Luke 9:28-31) Intention: We pray to have greater attention to the words said at mass Prayer: Lord Jesus, remove the veil covering our face which is the cares and distractions of this world, that we may be able to worship you fully with heart and mind. Amen The Last Supper and institution of the Eucharist (John 6:51) Intention: That we may have a longing for the food which lasts Prayer: Lord Jesus, may we always have a deep reverence to these sacred mysteries and so be able to experience in a more deeper way, the redemption which you yourself won for us. Amen Let us pray: O God, whose only begotten Son, by his life, death and resurrection, has purchased for us the rewards of eternal life; grant, we beseech you, that meditating on these mysteries of the most Holy Rosary of the Blessed virgin Mary, we may both imitate what they contain and obtain what they promise, through Christ our Lord. Amen
