The Rowan County Board of Commissioners is holding a special - TopicsExpress

The Rowan County Board of Commissioners is holding a special meeting on Monday, June 24 AT 5:00 to vote on the proposed 2013-2014 general fund budget, including funding for the Rowan-Salisbury School System. There was a deadlock vote of 2-2 last Monday. In the balance are further reductions in school funding. Our school system has sustained huge cuts in recent years. Further cuts will mean fewer teachers and aides in the classroom and loss of opportunities for our children. Concerned Citizens of Rowan County, a non-partisan group, is planning to give the Commissioners a message of support for the schools by attending the meeting and displaying opposition to any further cuts. A group will meet at 120 E. Innes, East Square Art,(at the back of parking lot) at 4:00 to march together to the meeting. IF YOU HAVE CHILDREN OR GRANDCHILDREN IN SCHOOL; IF YOU ARE A TEACHER OR HAVE A TEACHER IN YOUR FAMILY; IF YOU HAVE A BUSINESS IN ROWAN COUNTY AND DEPEND ON WELL-EDUCATED EMPLOYEES; IF YOU THINK ATTRACTING NEW FAMILIES AND BUSINESSES TO THE COUNTY IS IMPORTANT, ATTEND THIS MEETING AND SHOW WITH YOUR PRESENCE THAT YOU SUPPORT OUR SCHOOLS! IT IS TIME TO LET THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS KNOW THAT WE WANT OUR VOICES HEARD AND OUR WISHES HONORED. Join us either at the pre-meeting gathering or at the 5 p.m. meeting. Numbers count when we are trying to get the attention of our community as well as those who are supposed to be representing us.
