The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists have updated their guidelines on managing Chickenpox during pregnancy. Many women have antibodies to protect themselves against the virus after contracting the virus as a child, so complications caused by chicken pox are rare - it is estimated to effect three in every 1000 pregnancies. If youve had chickenpox before, you should be immune to the virus, so theres no need to worry unless you develop a rash. If youve never had chickenpox before, or you arent sure if you have, and you come into contact with someone who has the virus, then you should speak to your GP or midwife immediately. You should also contact your GP if you have been in contact with someone with chickenpox or shingles while you are breastfeeding or within seven days of giving birth. https://rcog.org.uk/en/news/rcog-release-revised-guideline-on-chickenpox-in-pregnancy-published/
