The Rules of Spring Self-Tanning The sun is finally starting to make an appearance, but its been a particularly long winter—and as a result were fed up of having pale, pasty skin. Its been a long, cold winter—should we be more cautious when applying self tan? The cold weather gets under our skin, so in these unseasonal temperatures its crucial to keep the body hydrated, supple and feeling loved. How should we prep skin and give it some love? Drop a little Aromatherapy Associates Revive in the bath to awaken tired skin and rehydrate. The soak also helps remove any remnants of older self tan leaving the skin refreshed. When going for the natural glow be sure to gently exfoliate any dry skin and leftover oil from the skin. This will ensure no patchy colour. The suns coming out now so were tempted to go for a bare leg. What are your top tips for applying tan to this area? When tanning the legs I advise applying in the bathroom and lifting the leg on the edge of the bath. This makes it easy to reach the bottom of the leg and not over applying onto the problematic areas like the ankle and knees. Always custom blend your tanning product with moisturiser around the ankle and over the foot and toes. If you’re misting the legs, do so on a dark surface and generously moisturise the feet first, to avoid any over spray darkening the feet. What about if we want to achieve that contoured look seen on the spring catwalks? Layer a darker wash off tan on top of your existing glow—Sienna X Instant Bronzing Gel is perfect for this as gives a dark look and dries instantly on the skin for a gorgeous contouring effect. Plus the noticeable sweet orange and patchouli scent ignites the smell of summer and leaves legs looking toned and flawless. For best and quick results always use a tanning mitt—It does all the work for you. Layering different types of tan can be tricky—what’s your insider tip? Yes, layering self tan can be tough for some. If your existing self tan is starting to break up then layering more product can highlight the break up. The Sienna X Gradual Glowing tan is ideal for building up and going darker in stages. Remember to keep moisturising with an oil-free lotion in between, too. Via HarpersBazaar.co.uk written by:By Victoria Hall
