The SAA PEC Network of State Coordinators Facebook page is about to embark on a tour of public archaeology in the United States and Canada. Beginning on September 1st, our Facebook page will feature people, parks, museums, programs, events, websites, and organizations that reach out to the public with engaging archaeology. Each week we’ll highlight a different state, territory, or province starting with Alabama and ending with the Yukon. Since we’re not experts on everywhere, please feel free to post your own links! Check us out at: Check us out at: facebook/SAAPECStateCoordinators With your help, this Public Archaeology Tour will eventually develop into a social media library centered around key Public Archaeology themes, using the hashtags below. This will create a great resource for our State Network Coordinators and other Public Archaeology professionals! If you don’t have anything in particular to include at this time in a specific category, that’s okay too. #NoteworthyPubArch - Did a particular event or program go well? Is there a good website or blog for it? Is there a particular person who is just rocking archaeology outreach in your state? #PubArchInTheNews - Are there news articles from the past year we should feature? Can you provide the links? #PubArchEvents - Do you have upcoming events we can help promote? A one-time event, a lecture series, a summer program... #PubArchPress - Has anyone published anything (academic or other research) recently that highlights archaeology in your state? Or any good print or electronic resources youd recommend to help others improve their public archaeology and outreach? #PubArchFF – It’s “Follow Friday.” What FB pages/groups would you like to promote to our followers? Also Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram, etc. #PubArchConvos - Are there any questions youd like to ask to engage our followers? Peer-to-peer conversations, inquiry-based questions, etc. Here’s the schedule for the first four weeks: Alabama: September 1 to 7 Alaska: September 8 to 14 Alberta: September 15 to 21 American Samoa: September 22 to 28 Thanks!
