The SEATTLE TIMES continues to lie and continues to attack medical cannabis. I encourage everyone to leave a comment on this article. Heres mine: These constant attacks on the medical cannabis community, in support of the failing I-502 model, are both mean-spirited and dishonest. Why dont we already have licensing and regulation? Lets tell the truth! Its because the law enforcement lobby, the Washington Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs conspired with Gov. Christine Gregoire to make sure that didnt happen. They both conspired with Federal Prosecutor, Jenny Durkin, to provide a letter making it appear that the Feds would step in arrest state employees if the State licensed these business. I should point out that this threatening letter lied about the Federal law and was written by Gregoires own attorney...Jenny Durkin. When will the Seattle Times be honest about this? Youve been provided with the letter from the WASPC to Gregoire telling her exactly which sections of SB 5073 to veto and which to keep. It was law enforcement that didnt want licensing and regulation because, it argued, that they didnt want to give these businesses legitimacy. And who is it that is still trying to kill medical cannabis in Washington? The same Washington Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs conspired with Gov. Christine Gregoire to make sure they werent licensed. Only this time, the same Jenny Durkin, sent a letter to new Governor saying that the Feds would intervene if the state DIDNT license and regulate these dispensaries. The Liquor Control Board has been found guilty of violating the Open Public Meetings Act by holding 17 illegal secret meetings with law enforcement officials to plot the demise of the States Medical Cannabis Act. They were also found guilty of violating the State Public Records Act by hiding over 4,000 documents that proved that they were meeting secretly with law enforcement to plot the destruction of medical cannabis. Those documents have now been released and they clearly show that the LCB is a totally rogue state agency that conspired with law enforcement to take over medical in an attempt to force patients to spend four times as much money to buy their medicine from LCB licensees. So this is the truth about why dispensaries arent licensed and regulated. You have been provided all the documents, including the letter from WASPC to the governor that she received three days before her vetoes, and still the Seattle Times refuses to tell public the truth. This is yellow journalism at its worst. Certainly, the Liquor Control Board continues to prove that they are the most corrupt Agency in Washington State.
