The SFA Friends of the Visual Arts (FVA) and Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House are hosting an event on Saturday, November 9, in downtown Nacogdoches. This day promises to be a bonanza for East Texas art lovers, according to Lisa Steed, SFA Art Galleries Event Coordinator The 28th annual Downtown Art Walk is scheduled from 4 to 8 p.m. This popular event invites attendees to walk the streets of downtown and visit different galleries that will be showing their wares and offering light refreshments. Next is the official opening of the SFA School of Arts John August Swanson exhibition in the upstairs Reavley Gallery at the Cole Art Center. The opening will feature a presentation from 6 to 7 p.m. on Day of the Dead Traditions by Drs. José N. Recinos and Gabriela Miranda-Recinos with SFA’s Latin American Studies Program. At 7:30 p.m., the FVA Day of the Dead Fiesta & Art Auction begins in and around the Cole Art Center. An art auction and raffle featuring unique creations made by many local artists will be offered inside the art center. Concurrently, an outdoor Fiesta market opens on the surrounding streets.
