The SVG Beekeepers Association is hosting a week of beekeeping activities during the period of October 14th – 18th, 2013. The highlights of these activities during the week include a National Honey Disease and Pest Survey to be conducted on the 14th – 15th October, 2013. A National Symposium on “Bee Pollination and the Environment Conservation” will take place on Tuesday 15th October, 2013 at the Marriaqua Learning Resource Center. According to Agriculture Officer, Allan Williams the symposium is to create awareness to the public on the importance of honey bees to the environment and to promote the conservation of honey bees. This activity will start at 1:30 pm. Then on Wednesday 16th – Friday 18th, 30 Beekeepers will participate in a Master’s Beekeeping Training Course at the Fisheries Conference Room beginning at 1:30 pm. This course is the 3rd level of practicing beekeeping skills. The week of activities is facilitated by three beekeeping specialists led by Mr. Dwayne Mitchell of the Agriculture Research Services program of the St. Georges University, School of Veterinary Medicine of Grenada and the Eastern Caribbean Bee Research and Extension Center. All beekeepers are asked to take note of these important dates and activities.
