The Saga of # 6 (Kittens in the House) - Day 4. Well, there we were eating dinner in the kitchen when the phone in the living room started ringing. I decided I’d get up and answer it, so Boy 2 helpfully opened the kitchen door, letting the kittens in. Jareth made a standing jump straight onto Boy 1’s plate and shoved his snout into the tuna-and-mashed-potato. I removed the furry pests and phoned my friend back for a five-minute conversation, at the end of which I heard boy 1(still in the kitchen) shouting “Why don’t you just f... off?” (Unbeknownst to me, the moment I’d left the kitchen boy 2 had started singing a little song, the refrain of which went “Boy 1s a gay boy, Boy 1’s a gay boy.” Boy 1 told him to stop and he didn’t, so Boy 1 stabbed him with a fork. The swearing was just icing on the cake.) “What on earth is going on?” I ask. “Boy 1 stabbed me with a fork,” says Boy 2. “Why did your brother stab you with a fork?” To which Boy 2 replies, “I can’t be expected to remember every single word of a conversation.” Frankly, I think the kittens are the better behaved ones in my household.
