The San Antonio Spurs just continue to shine on, as they won there 14th game in a row, against the Philadelphia 76ers, who received there 25th straight loss in a row. While Philly and San Antonio are going in opposite directions, the newest Spur, who came in a trade from Toronto, made the most of his opportunity against this struggling 76ers squad. SF Austin Daye, who came in a trade from the Toronto Raptors showed the Spurs what he can do on the court. Daye showed them great athleticism, good defense, versatile game at the small forward and power forward positions, helping the Spurs with small ball basketball. Regardless of who the Spurs were playing, Daye proved to the Spurs, that maybe one day in the future, he could have a good impact for the team. Daye is still young and has a lot to learn, but with guys like Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili, its not going to take Daye long, to learn what his impacted could be. Daye could be that missing backup small forward position the Spurs have been looking to acquire for sometime now. With the way Daye played last night, he could give the Spurs something good to think about. The great thing about Austin Daye last night, was that he made the most of his opportunity to be on the court and took complete advantage of what his strengths and talents are. Dayes offensive game came mostly from 3-point land, knocking down a career-high 6 three-pointers. Daye had a great overall game, scoring 22 points while shooting 8-13 from the field, along with 2 block shots, 2 steals, 1 assist, and 6 rebounds. Daye had a surprised impacted with his overall game, by scoring 10 of his 22 points in the 3rd quarter, as the Spurs led wire-to-wire, blowing out the 76ers and getting the 113-91 victory. San Antonio improved to 54-16, extending there winning streak to 14 games, while the 76ers fell to 15-56. Daye had a quiet start to begin the game, but slowly and surely, his impacted would be pretty well known in the 1st quarter, with a block shot, as the Spurs had the early lead on Philly. First, Daye block the shot of 76ers Rookie PG Michael Carter-Williams, as the Spurs took a 31-24 lead into the 2nd quarter. Daye finally made his offensive game known in the 2nd period, scoring 8 points, as the Spurs continue to have the lead on the 76ers. First, Daye gets a pass from SG Marco Belinelli for the 3-point field goal, then Daye gets a pass from PF Tim Duncan for another 3-point basket. Daye gets a pass from SG Manu Ginobili, then Daye makes a great move, scoring the two-point jumper, as the Spurs had a 60-44 halftime lead. Daye continued his hot start in the 3rd quarter, scoring 10 points, as the Spurs continued to extend there double-digit lead. First, Daye gets a pass from SF Kawhi Leonard for the 3-point basket, then Daye blocks the shot of 76ers PF Thaddeus Young. Belinelli with a great pass to Daye for the easy layup basket, then Daye gets a pass from backup PG Patty Mills for the wide-open 3-pointer. Daye gets his 1st assist of the game, finding backup PF/C Jeff Ayres for the easy layup. Daye seem to have a great connection with Belinelli, as Austin would get another pass from Belinelli for a 3-point field goal, and the Spurs took an 89-68 lead into the 4th quarter. Daye would put the finishing touches in the 4th quarter, with his 6th and final 3-pointer, as backup PG Cory Joseph would dish to Daye for another 3-pointer. It was a great Daye for Austin last night, as his 22 points, helped the Spurs get the 113-91 victory. Even though Daye showed the potential he has for the Spurs, there were 4 other players in double-figures for San Antonio.
