The Saturday, 10/5, field trip is on - just not at Don Edwards NWR, which is closed due to the government shutdown! Meet at 9:00 AM in the parking lot outside the gate at Don Edwards NWR. We will bird the pond nearest the road, then carpool to Coyote Hills RP 1.5 miles north (Paseo Padre Parkway at Patterson Ranch Road). If you prefer, meet us at the Quarry parking lot, first lot on the left after you enter the park, at Coyote Hills at 9:30 AM. At Coyote Hills we will see many great birds - possibly even some recent rarities: Sage Thrasher, Nashville Warbler, Palm Warbler, Clay-Collared Sparrow... We will walk out the trail from Quarry to the Meadowlark Trail checking the fennel along the way. This is a walk of about 1 mile round trip. Coyote Hills RP parking fee $5 payable at kiosk or by machine.
