The School of Social Work at Texas State University just received a $1.5 million HRSA Behavioral Health Workforce Education and Training Grant to develop an advanced multisystemic practice curriculum that prepares MSW students both in the classroom and through internships to provide behavioral health services to children, adolescents and transition age youth in community-based settings. Through this grant, Texas State will partner with community agencies to offer students opportunities to develop a multifaceted skill set for pursuing behavioral health practice experience through internships focused on clinical work with children, adolescents and transition-age youth, with a particular focus on trauma and ADVENTURE THERAPY (among other innovative interventions such as animal-assisted therapy, hip hop, virtual reality, etc.). So proud and excited that the Federal government is putting money towards graduate level training for social workers in adventure therapy and child/adolescent mental health!
