The Schwag will be joined by a very special guest performance this Saturday night at The Atomic Cowboy. For the past week, the monks from the exiled Drepung Gomang Monastery have been in St. Louis, as part of their year-long Sacred Arts Tour, which focuses attention on the Chinese occupation and cultural suppression of their homeland. This Saturday, the monks open the show at 8 p.m., with instrumental and vocal chants. Its a unique opportunity to meet with the monks on their last evening in St. Louis. This past weekend, they attended the Festival of Nations, providing childrens art lessons and performing two sets of chant. Heres a video of Saturday afternoons short set.
