The Science of Napping: Many people in todays fast-pace society are sleep-deprived due to their hectic work schedule, mental stress from family and financial situations, and even lack of nutrients in the diet. A University of Chicago study showed that subjects who were restricted to 6 hours of sleep per night for four nights increased insulin in the bloodstream that mimicked a pre-diabetic state. Insufficient sleep de-regulates the body’s ability to produce hormones that regulate hunger and breakdown carbohydrates. I would suggest taking a 30 min - 1 hour nap daily. Also sleeping an extra hour on your days off work can be helpful.
