The Scott Volunteer Fire Department is a combination Department. - TopicsExpress

The Scott Volunteer Fire Department is a combination Department. What this means is that the City of Scott hires part time firefighter/drivers to work Monday through Friday from 7am to 4pm to help supplement the limited amount of volunteer firefighters, and to take care of the normal routine daily station duties and maintenance. Most of our volunteers have day jobs and work out of the area and are unable to respond. But the rest of the time including weeknights and weekends are completely run by the Volunteers. If you are interested in becoming a Volunteer please come and fill out an application. We are always looking for volunteers. There is no greater self satisfaction than helping out your fellow man in their time of need. There are plenty of jobs in the Department to fit your capabilities. We have a great group of Volunteers who would love for you to join our team. The Scott Fire Department responded to approximately 1000 calls a year. Just to give you an idea we respond to the following below. If you think we respond to only fires you are highly mistaken. *Vehicle Crashes (if there are injuries) We also do auto extrication (Jaws of life) *Hazards (Natural gas leaks, fuel spills, Hazardous materials) *First respond to Medical Emergencies (Chest pain/cardiac problems, Difficulty breathing, Unconsciousness, Cardiac arrest. *Rescue (elevator, Industrial accidents) *Structure fires (Houses, Commercial building, Sheds, barns, etc.) *Grass/brush/field fires *Trash/Dumpster fire *Vehicle fire (trucks, cars, tractors boats etc.) *Fire alarms (residential and commercial) Although a little outdated ,take a look at our video to give you a better look into the life of a Scott Volunteer.
