The Scripture of the Day is: Psalm 23:1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. Want, used in this verse, means lack. A very important part of living for God is understanding His Word and His great love. Shepherds watch over and care for sheep; but the Lord went further than a natural shepherd; He gave His life that we might have the opportunity for life eternal; and that is His great love toward us. There is probably a lot of things that we “want” in this life; but the things that we lack are a completely different issue. Associate need with lack and that will give us a better understanding. There have been many times that I would be fearful of what I thought was a need (usually financial) that was impending. I would not see the way to meet and pay my obligation. Humanly, we tend to expect God to pay our bills. First, did we seek Him about the expense we are facing; because if we were instructed by Him to make the purchase, He will help us to meet the obligation; and bring us to the place that our purchase is paid in full. Often times, the enemy will set his foot down in the middle of our finances; because he likes to burden us with unneeded expenses and cause us to blame God for our hardship; when, in fact we have allowed the enemy to take us down a path that brings us torment. If this happens time, after time, after time then the enemy has a hold on our lives that we need intervention from on high. We went on a boat ride the other day and I came to the knowledge that there are no brakes on a boat. So, if you need to completely stop and not drift at all, you need an anchor; and that anchor will bring things to a standstill. If the enemy is tormenting us with something; we need to get hold of the anchor, Jesus, and come to a standstill, until we hear our answer from on high. Our trials usually cause us to not want to wait on Him or blame Him for the mess we (along with the help of the enemy of our souls) got into. If we will seek Him, we will find Him; and He will be our refuge and help. If the enemy is putting us in a corner over and over again we have to come to the understanding of what part we are playing in arriving to the same situation time and time again. We can allow the enemy to have victory over us or we can gain knowledge from on high to defeat his attacks. The Lord is our faithful shepherd; He may not do things right when we want them, and even how we think they should be handled; but, He will always help us through every trial we face. When we come to the place that we are walking with the Lord and gaining access to the anchor, we shall not want. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Lord we give thanks today for the many ways that you bless our lives. When we look back at the ways you have provided for us and helped us we want to stop and praise you for all of those. We know that you come between us and the enemy daily to save us from his onslaughts; thank you. Help us to see the ways that we give the enemy access into our lives; help us to better understand your Word and help us to weed the enemy out of our lives one weed at a time. Help us to overcome. We stand this day and lay hold of our great anchor and seek your mercy and help. We ask these things in the name of your Son, Jesus, AMEN. P.S. In these last days that we are living we need to get as much of the word as possible. If any of you have a ladies group at your church or Bible study that you would like to have a guest speaker, I would be anxious in the Lord to come and speak for you.
