The Seattle Office of Arts & Culture, in partnership with the Seattle City Light and its Renewable Energy Program, seeks three (3) artists or artist teams for two (2) separate projects. The two projects are: Capitol Hill Gateway Kiosk – Renewable Energy Project We seek one (1) artist or artist team to develop an artwork that demonstrates or uses renewable energy sources (solar power) and also functions as a gateway/informational kiosk to the newly formed Capitol Hill Arts District in Seattle. The artwork-kiosk will be placed on city-owned property in Capitol Hill, mostly likely in street right of way. The final selection will be based on commissioned proposals. Neighborhood Solar Artwork Installations – Renewable Energy Project We seek two (2) artists or artist teams to develop artworks that demonstrate or use renewable energy sources (solar power). The artworks will be placed on city-owned properties in neighborhoods throughout the city. Final selections will be based on commissioned proposals. Artists may apply to both projects. ELIGIBILITY This opportunity is open to artists living in Washington State. BUDGET Nine finalists will each receive $1,500 to develop a project proposal. Three selected artists will each receive a project budget of $70,000 for design development, production, taxes, materials, photovoltaics, permits, fabrication, installation, travel and artist fees. This amount is inclusive of all fees, materials, labor and taxes. DEADLINE 11 p.m., Wednesday, November 5, 2014 (Pacific Standard Time).
