The Second Amendment to the Constitution of the United States was not added to arm the militia. If you read the Constitution, you will find in Article1, section 8 ( law.cornell.edu/constitution/articlei ) that purpose has already been provided for. No, the Second Amendment was added to provide the People with an insurance policy in case the government would use said well regulated militias and standing armies against them. The right of the People is in contrast to that of the militia. Why is this so hard to understand?
