Compensation and Retribution Hereafter for all the Good and Evil Deeds done on Earth To me this would seem to teach that when we go into spirit life ( and not before then ) we shall be rewarded or punished for our good or evil action in Earth Life. But I think ll thoughtful students will agree that it is Evil thoughts or selfish desires hat earn punishment, and not merely the actions to which they lead- and which, to those who do not know the motive , sometime seem to be praiseworthy. Compensation means a weighing of our motives, and retribution is a paying back. And what we receive back is spiritual progress when we have allowed worthy motives to govern our actions and words, and much stronger unspiritual tendencies when our decisions are made from unworthy motives. And all this can happen here, as well as hereafter. open to interpretation
