The Seven Suppositions GOD’s Not Dead Series – Part 2 1. Evil is real and people are blinded by their sins. Ephesians 2:1 – And you HE made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins. 2. HIS ways are higher than our ways. Isaiah 55:8-9 – For MY thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways MY ways, says the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are MY ways higher than your ways, and MY thoughts than your thoughts. Jeremiah 29:11 – For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. 3. There is no innocence in anyone we are all guilty before a Holy GOD. Romans 3:10, 23 Romans 3:10 – As it is written: There is none righteous, no, not one. Romans 3:23 – For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of GOD. Nobody’s perfect – only GOD James 2:10 – For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all. One little spark of sin makes us corrupt. We are all rebellious and we have broken GOD’s holy war. GOD can punish in any way HE sees fit. 4. Suffering can lead to repentance. 2 Corinthians 7:10 – For godly sorrow produces repentence leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death. Romans 2:4 – Or do you despise the riches of HIS goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of GOD leads you to repentance? Everything GOD allows to happen leads us to repentance. Sometimes breaking our hearts will lead us to GOD. 5. Suffering can lead to a deeper dependence on GOD. 2 Corinthians 3:18 – But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the LORD, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the LORD. HE is changing us to be like CHRIST. 2 Corinthians 1:4 – who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by GOD. Romans 8:29 – For whom HE foreknew, HE also predestined to be conformed to the image of HIS Son, that HE might be the firstborn among many brethren. We are to be HIS vessels – HIS servants The training ground brings us closer to GOD and others to CHRIST 6. Let’s blame the right guy Genesis 3:1 – Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the LORD GOD has made. And he said to the woman, “Has GOD indeed said, ‘You shall not eat of every tree of the garden’?” We ignore that there is an evil one who is responsible for death. The Bible puts the correct blame on the devil The devil sought to make a mess of GOD’s plan 7. Consider GOD’s past dealings Romans 15:4 – For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope. What people go through today is them same thing people went through during the Bible times. We get to peek behind the curtain GOD reveals to us what HE wants us to see for our good. What GOD wants for us is for us to repent and come home to HIM.
