The Seven Trumpets Revelation Chapters 8, 9 and 11 verses 14-19 And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him to shew him the buildings of the temple. And Jesus said unto them, see ye not all these things? Shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down, and as he sat upon the Mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying. Tell us when shall these things be? And what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? (Mathew 24:1-3) There are two questions asked by the disciples here: 1. When will the destruction of Jerusalem be? 2. What are the signs of Christ coming and the end of the world? The Seventh Seal in continuation of chapter 7 are seven trumpets signifying major Wars and events that will occur on earth as Jesus answered the disciples “…For nations shall rise against nation, and kingdom against Kingdom…” (Mathew 24:7) In ancient times trumpets were blown to alert the people to an impending danger or an important event. As a matter of fact, there are different understanding to the meaning and interpretation of the seven trumpets. Some see these as, literal manifestation and occurrences of plagues and disasters that will befall the earth while some see them as figurative referring to major wars that will upset the earth. The last 3 trumpets are referred to as WOES meaning that they would be more devastating than the 1st four. Referring to one of the Woes in Rev 9:15, it talks about the four angels loosed and prepared for an hour, and day, and a month and a year, for to slay the third part of men. A day in prophesy is equivalent to a year. Ezekiel 4:6 and numbers 14:34. One Hour = 1/24 of 360 days = 15 days, One day = 1 year, One month = 30 years, One year = 360 years totaling 391 years and 15 days. In 1838 Josiah Litch prepared an article using these times to predict the fall of the Turkey empire that fell in August 11, 1840, a reign that started in July 27, 14449. Talling with the 391 years and 15 days. Therefore using Revelation 9: 15 I would believe that the trumpets were constant political wars that affected the Roman politics Chapter 8 Verses 6 and 7 The first trumpet was the first successful invasion of Rome from the North in A.D. 410 by the Gothic under the leadership of Alaric Chapter 8 Verses 8 and 9 The second trumpet was the German tribe, the Vandals under the leadership of Genseric that occupied North Africa launched an historic attack against Rome from the south from the Mediterranean sea. Chapter 8 Verses 10 and 11 The third trumpet was the period of Attila the Huns that launch a consistent attack of the Rome A.D. 451 Chapter 8 Verses 12 and 13 The fourth trumpet was the destruction of western Rome by Odoacer the leader of Heruli , the first Barbarian leader (A.D 476-A.D 490). The emperorship of Rome was abolished given rise to the Papal Rome in A.D. 538 Chapter 9 verses 1-11 The first woe. This would torment the people for 5 months or 150 days. Prophetically refers to 150 years. The unification of the Saracens was accomplished by Ottoman who founded the Ottoman Empire that was supreme from July 27, 1299 to 1449. Chapter 9 verses 12-21 The second woe was the rise of the Turkey Empire that reigned for 391 years and 15 days Chapter 11 verses 14-15 The sounding of the seventh trumpet made a declaration in Heaven. Like an official takeover of the kingdom of the earth. This still explains the mediating work of Christ will end, he will drop his priestly robe and take over the ruler ship of the world. Man’s probation is ended. The wrath of Nations and the wrath of God and the natural disaster are still on hold. Anytime from now they shall be released. Whether we believe this trumpets to be literal interpretation of symbolic, I am sure these are events that must occur before the coming of Christ.
