The Seymour Local Indigenous Network celebrated NAIDOC week on Tuesday at Lions Park in Seymour. NAIDOC stands for National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee which sought to increase awareness of the status and treatment of Indigenous Australians. This year the theme was Serving Country - Centenary & Beyond. A Community BBQ, stalls, cultural workshops and entertainment was enjoyed by everyone. People enjoyed conversations with each other, kids played in the park and kangaroo meat was cooked on the open fire. Mitchell Shire Council, Federal Government and Seymour Health supported the event. Thank you to Cr. Sanderson and Cr. Bill Chisholm who attended the event.
