The Shah Commissions Second and Final Report in three volumes on Illegal Mining of Iron Ores and the Manganese Ores in Odisha has been placed before the two Houses of the Parliament on the 4th August 2014. In brief the Commission has reiterated its finding and recommended for CBI investigation in to the offences that has caused more than three lakh crores of rupees worth loss to public exchequer. Between 01/01/2012 and 22/01/2012 a survey was done that revealed 125 racks full of 500,000 Mt of iron ores were transported by the Railways in Jurudih and Banspani railway sidings by Triveni Earth Mover (P) Ltd. with out any record so far as the consignee or the consignor is concerned. This is only the tip of the iceberg of the unabated loot of Iron Ores and the Manganese Ores being stolen in Odisha. Shah Commission has unearthed vast mass of evidence to nab the culprits and reiterated to hold investigation by the CBI. It is to be seen how soon the present BJP led NDA Government is asking the CBI to take over the investigation. The Triveni Earth Movers (P) Ltd. has no trading license, nor it has permit for transportation but there are records available to show that it is involved in heavy transactions to the tune of more than 1,000 crores of rupees worth of iron ores every month since 2002. It has monopolised his business over 14 big mining companies and their products as a raising contractor in league with one Sanatan Mahakud, who has a huge building-cum campus on forest land within the knowledge of the Forest, Revenue, Mining and Police authorities. Engaging a raising contractor by the lease holder is in clear violation of Rule 37 of the MMR says the Commission. The Shah Commission has further opined that the State Government has been violating all instructions of the Central Government and all laws pertaining to the forestry, environment and regulation and development of minings. The only way to stop this criminal loot is to get these enquired in to and investigated by the CBI.
