The Shofar Generation Perhaps the most uniquely Biblical musical instrument is the shofar, the Hebrew trumpet fashioned out of a rams horn. The word shofar comes from the root word that means clear. A shofar must make a clear sound; if theres any obstruction, the sound will be hindered. You are called to be a vessel of God, an instrument of the Lords purposes. You are to be the Lords shofar and that means He has to be able to blow through you. The word for breath in Hebrew is ruach. Ruach is also the word for Spirit. For you to be the Lords instrument, the Spirit of God must be blowing through you, but in order for the Spirit to blow through you, you have to be clear, you have to be free of obstructions. Anything outside of Gods will, will obstruct the blowing of His breath. The Spirit of God will flow through you and for that to start happening you have to get those blockages out of your life. For if anyone will cleanse himself from these things, he will be used of God, prepared for every good work, a vessel of honor. Mission: Look inside yourself for any obstructions such as sin, selfishness, fear that would keep you from being a clear instrument for the Holy Spirits will for you to be used. 2 Timothy 1:11-14 11 Whereunto I am appointed a preacher, and an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles. 12 For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day. 13 Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. 14 That good thing which was committed unto thee keep by the Holy Ghost which dwelleth in us. This is the Message I’ve been set apart to proclaim as preacher, emissary, and teacher. It’s also the cause of all this trouble I’m in. But I have no regrets. I couldn’t be more sure of my ground—the One I’ve trusted in can take care of what he’s trusted me to do right to the end. So keep at your work, this faith and love rooted in Christ, exactly as I set it out for you. It’s as sound as the day you first heard it from me. Guard this precious thing placed in your custody by the Holy Spirit who works in us. Prison of your own making Are you holding yourself in a prison of your own making? If so, today you can choose to set yourself free.Worries, insecurities, outdated assumptions, and a negative self image can all prevent you from experiencing life at its best. You can let those limiting influences fall cleanly away from your life. The obstacles that life sends your way will continually challenge you, and yet with intention and commitment you can move beyond them. Before you can do that, however, you must set yourself free of the self-imposed obstacles. Raise your vision of yourself above any troubles and shortcomings that may have occurred in your past. This is now, and you owe it to yourself to maintain an empowering view of yourself. If you’ve known a lot of disappointment, there’s no need to fear more disappointment or failure. Just accept that they will occasionally come, and look forward to the great satisfaction you’ll find in working your way beyond them. Choose to set yourself free from defeating thoughts that have held you back. Knock down the walls you’ve built around you, and let the full richness of life come in. Love is connected to virtues Virtues create love both within the self and within others. When virtues reduce, the quality of love also reduces. When all virtues are present, there is complete and pure love. Love, Debbie
