The Silverton High football team is in the OSAA Class 5A semifinals for the third consecutive year. The Foxes improved to 11-0 on Friday with a 28-0 win vs. Ashland at gooey, mulchy McGinnis Field in a quarterfinal game played in temperatures in the low 30s. Silverton will take on Springfield in next Saturdays semifinals. The time and site are still to be determined. It feels good to keep it going, said Foxes senior wide receiver/defensive back Logan Munson, who caught a 15-yard touchdown pass, intercepted a pass and made other sterling plays on defense. This is real exciting. We work hard in practice and it carried over in this game. We keep our focus all the time and dont take any plays off. We just work together as a team, said senior running back/linebacker Sam Kuschnick, one of four Foxes to have played on all three semifinal teams. Were a family and we always pick each other up. The weather was great, nice and crisp, and we just pounded it. Kuschnick scored a touchdown on a 6-yard run, while senior quarterback Cole Chandler accounted for the other two scores on 2- and 1-yard TD runs. Junior Noah Dahl added four PAT kicks. Our seniors have never lost on this field, said Foxes coach John Mannion. Its a greaet group of guys and were excited to keep the season going.
