The Sisters of Charity, associates, families and staff will gather in the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception at Mount Saint Vincent today at 11 a.m. to pay tribute and remember fifteen sisters and two former members who passed away between October 1, 2013 and September 30, 2014. Reverend Christopher Keenan, OFM, an associate of the congregation, will be the presider. Among the fifteen being rememberd is Sister Agnes Connolly, who served as president of the Sisters of Charity from 1979 to 1987. The other sisters being remembered are Sr. Marilda Joseph Aeillo, Sr. Jeanne Atkinson, Sr. Claire Marian Barton, Sr. Marie Immaculata Burke, Sr. Trudé Collins, Sr. Martha Cummings, Sr. Marian Delaney, Sr. Anne T. Golden, Sr. Regina Catherine Gorga, Sr. Constance Horan, Sr. Virginia Catharine Jarczynski, Sr. Ruth Marion McCullough, Sr. Winifred O’Toole, and Sr. Mary Whamond. Mary Reidy Cioffa and Kathryn A. Patterson, both former members of the congregation, are also being honored. The seventeen remembered shared their many gifts, skills, and talents with those they served in and around the Archdiocese of New York, in the Bahamas, and in Guatemala. For all their gifts, talents and selfless dedication, the Sisters of Charity gather to honor the departed with love and gratitude for their lives and their commitment to serve.
