The Sleeping Nostalgia By Derek Easley 3/6/14 Ache is present, as night gives way to morning My mind races with doubts imploring I dry my sweat, and collect my thinking Disgruntled by a ship thats sinking Crawling in to bed, the sun rises Aware of all those great disguises I have seen the heart-swell crest and tank As in others I have invested and banked It was in good intentions started Yet it ends so swift and broken-hearted I lay down with pain that speaks so loudly It radiates and stays within me proudly I cannot depend on others actions For it always amounts to subtracted fractions So if Im left with my own devices, broken Dwelling on all the empty words once spoken It could only be the fleeting moments flattered As a metal cold drowns what once so mattered I approach another year of living And hope in love, and live in giving And pray in brightness, swim in blessings Despite the lightness, my soul is stressing In spite of comfort, shelter, warming Each day it rains in repeated storming There brews a conflux of lives coinciding Too preoccupied for any deciding And in half truths and secrets lurking I find appreciation for things once working Its a jaunt on all truths left standing As each day brings new thoughts demanding A solace achieved in peaceful reflections A mirror is alone when set on direction I pray the sun touches all with its beaming And I awake from the rain, both happy and dreaming
