The South Madison Community Foundation dedicated a garden in my late Grandfather Charlie Owens name yesterday. It has been eight years since my grandfather Charlie Owens, passed away. He gave over a million dollars to the South Madison Community Foundation. While I am proud of his accomplishments as a business man, and I am sure that the South Madison Community Foundation is grateful for his donations. I have never been invited to any of the events to honor his name. I worked hundreds of hours on the property beside my grandfather hand in hand to help him maintain and rehab the property, on which the garden was placed. I also helped clean out the entire garage that was mentioned in the Herald Bulletins article for over two years and helped him organize the oil pumps, signs and other items that were sold at auction. I am writing this because, I am tired of standing by and being silent. I also am disappointed in the South Madison Community Foundation and there lack of communication. You would think that they would reach out to the persons grandson.
