The Southern New England Conference has included a Compassion - Community Service event in its schedule (see Wednesday 9:15 AM - 12:00 PM). For years, campmeetings have provided an opportunity for the saints to get away from the rest of the world, come to a secluded place and hear sermons and workshops. That is good, it is relaxing, and is our tradition; yet that does not do much for the community surrounding our campgrounds, besides creating traffic jams and ill feelings. I am so glad for this vision, the community will see the Eyes, Heart, Hands, and Feet of Jesus in action for a second year on row! Compassion & Adventism should be synonyms!
