The Southwestern Ontario Modern 1k is happening this Saturday. I have some reminders and announcements I’d like to make concerning the event. 1. I am having difficulty acquiring a Mox appropriate for the Legacy side Win-A-Mox. If I am unable to find one, I will be changing the prize to an increased and guaranteed $450 cash distributed to 4th place. I will also be allowing all preregistered players to withdraw from the Legacy event, and get their fee back, at no cost. I am sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. 2. I would like to officially welcome Decked Out Games, Little Shop of Heroes, and Just By Chance games as vendors for the event. They have decided to take a big risk to support Magic in Southwestern Ontario, so please make their risk worthwhile and show them as much patronage as you can. 3. Not interested in a big event? I will be offering $15 Win-A-Box events in Standard, Legacy, Modern and 75-card proxy Vintage. There will also be $10 Theros Block drafts, winners get a free draft. I have managed to get my hands on some Conspiracy, which will be drafting, details to come. Finally, there will be a bunch of free prizes to give away at random intervals to people playing in the dedicated Casual play tables, so come jam some Commander. Due to the limitations imposed on independent tournament organizers, none of the pick-up side events will be sanctioned. 4. Remember that all preregistered players will be given an extra Bear Hunt promo card. Preregistration will be open until Friday at 11:59pm. Instructions on how to do so can be found on the Facebook event page description. I will also be accepting preregisterations at or around the start of the following events in Waterloo this week - Tuesday: Modern at Just By Chance Games - Wednesday: Casual Magic night at KW Vintage Games - Thursday: Legacy at Just By Chance Games - Friday: WatSFic Magic FNM at the University of Waterloo.
