The Sparta Police Department formally thanked Ivan Vulovic today with an SPD Challenge Coin and a Letter of Appreciation. The letter read: On the afternoon of Wednesday, September 3rd 2014, several Sparta Police Officers were pursuing a suspect who had fled from officers on a bicycle. The pursuit lasted several minutes with the suspect being able to elude officers until you sprang into action. Realizing the suspect was heading towards you, you went above and beyond your duty as a citizen. You assisted the Sparta Police Department not only in stopping the suspect but also physically detaining him until officers could secure him into custody. Because of your actions that day, the Sparta Police Department wishes to recognize you as a valuable asset to our community. Pictured is Sergeant Erickson with Ivan. Citizens like Ivan help make Sparta a great community!
