The Special Olympic Spring Games were held Saturday at Judson High School. The event is one of Texas premiere Special Olympic events, with around 650 athletes participating from all of San Antonio and Bexar County. According to organizers, the track and field competition is very popular, because for many, it is the only event they are able to participate in. I love to see the smile on the athletes faces, the joy that they have, said Shawn Britt, program director for Special Olympics San Antonio. They may not win, but because they did it, thats all that counts for them. We dont want our athletes to be the best, but to do their best. And as long as theyre doing their best, Im satisfied.
