The Spectacle the game itself: Jeez wish Id posted what I sensed, just before game day -- which was along the lines of how it happened but the actuality went even beyond (or put down a bet on it, but too poor to lose one just now), Id sensed Seattle would shock the bookies, unless.... there were some heavy deals made with Denver somewhere, and without doubt thats a LOT more common in pro sports than ever clearly shown to be, with the point spread being the focal point of so much betting. I watched what became a pathetic (for Denver) blow-out, even managed to stay awake and not be distracted by pending responsibilities ;) ... but, objectively, I prefer a match-up game, if I am to watch, and I dont know who could come close, unless Seattle players could be cloned, though perhaps any other team might have at least come closer. Was hard to maintain the same interest after mid-3rd quarter/ The Spectacle at half-time: Over-amped muzak, derivative, all sound and fury, signifying nothing .. or more technically, just choreographed signifyin! On the bright side, it gave me time to slice my baked potatoes, and add the cheese and my pureed garlic/onion mix to it and pop it in the oven til a duller moment came to get them out, just before kickoff 2nd half. Note: I ONLY watch football during playoffs and SB. Some of the commercials: Radio Shack was decent and well done, and the one about some cars auto-emergency braking.. scary! as much as interesting (in theory). But OMG - The Bob Dylan car blabber? BD as spokesellout™, was that, Oy Vey! an absolute sell-out in so many big ways. For despite its pretense of boosting America /American cars, *while nonetheless giving away carte blanche our getting watches from Swiss manufacture, cell phones from the sweat shops of Asia, especially (not communist whatsoever these days) China, those both overlooking and condoning NAFTA and that other NAFTA like matter now nearly set*, BD touted the auto industry and area in a xenophobia over matter style. I doubt he had a thing to do with writing it, but holy shit, disregarding that many parts of many U.S.cars come from elsewhere, Detroit where it all started is also where Ford started the scene, Ford who later wrote a lot of Mein Kampf, cribbed by Hitler while in prison, and a life-size painting of whom decorated Hitlers inner office the whole time and who got the top honor from there any civilian could get, who developed owned and ran (partly under the table during the war) 3 tank/vehicle factories in Germany, and in fact enabled Hitler to begin the invasion of Poland by giving him our state secret! formula for isobutyl (artificial non-porous) rubber and who (while starting off here as an innovative and relatively decent employer, and his employees could even buy what they made, , devolved into becoming a vicious anti-union goon master and an evermore heartless scion of greed. Ford Motor Co. - a family business from the get go - sued the USA for damage done to their plants in Germany during WWII... even though Henry was officially away from running them and they WON (nonetheless) and whats that tell ya? Yeah, I know about the Dodge Brothers, etc. etc...but thats not gonna cut it. So, nice going, Zimmerman. Hey, if you want to make brags about US made cars, and am all for getting stuff made here, hell, quote the factual stuff, if there is any that can stand up to a few other makes. Car commercials are like watching animation most of the time, and in fact are that. It takes more than getting ones attention TO an ad, if one has even half a brain, though there are plenty zombies thats all it seems to be needed, as things stand. I guess no one remembers the racist under-toned patronizing and oh-so-(as if) proud script and acting by Eminem, in a prior Chrysler super bowl game, and it seems (sadly) most didnt even catch that aspect. Earlier, other such yet, too. I guess Dodge got bought by Ford, figuratively speaking. And Bob, guess you gotta serve someone sometime huh?
