The Spirit Helps Us in Our Weaknesses, Pt 1 Romans 8:26. Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. This scripture brings out one of the most wonderful truths about the gift of speaking in tongues. Through this gift, the Holy Spirit Himself helps us in our weakness. The kind of weaknesses referred to in our text can be physical, mental, emotional or spiritual. Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance defines them as “weakness and frailty of the body; feebleness of health; sickness, feebleness of the soul; the lack of sufficient strength and capacity needed to understand a thing; to do things great and glorious; to restrain corrupt desires; or to bear trials and troubles. Think about it. Have you ever lacked the capacity to understand something in your life – whether past, present or future? Have you ever had a longing in your heart to do something great and glorious for God but didnt know how? Have you ever had to deal with the flesh (and we all have!) in order to restrain corrupt desires? Have you ever had to go through trials and troubles and needed strength to bear up under them? Thank God, the Holy Spirit will help you in them!
