The Spoon of Truth We live in a generation that force-feeds us - TopicsExpress

The Spoon of Truth We live in a generation that force-feeds us every second of the day, and for the most part, we as a nation are unconscious of this truth. The constant voice of social media says we must live a certain way and have certain things in order to achieve “true” joy. This is because we live in a selfish consumer world. This consumer world uses psychological tactics in its commercial industries to persuade our very self-conscious nation that their product is the solution to the consumer’s needs. Instead of promoting that self-love is the solution to all problems, that the sense of belonging and true happiness is within one’s self, society force-feeds us to believe otherwise in order to make a profit. It does this without any regard to how it affects the people. Instead of being nourished with the truth, women are force-fed the façade of a cover girl who supports the faulty belief that if you have more curves and wear makeup, you will be satisfied and happy with yourself. As a result, broken yet optimistic women, young and old, buy cosmetics and dietary supplements in an attempt to be happy–because they were never taught that happiness is within. Happiness is nothing you can apply, earn by working for, or randomly come by; it cannot be bought. It is a state of being, a part of the self. The problem with this divine truth is that happiness is a limitless reality on which no one can ever place a price. Because of this, commercial enterprises see no value in promoting it. Instead of happiness, we are force-fed distorted spoonfuls of socially-accepted lies. The effect on our nation is an assault on our moral values and truths. We as a nation need to accept ourselves for who we are, without the handicaps of society’s opinions. Because, in all truth, we were all created in love; therefore we are all love in its fullest form of truth and beauty. Once we accept love as our self-image, we can be at peace. We will be able to say no to the hand that force-feeds us lies, and pick up the spoon of truth. -Julius, Alameda
