The Springfield Chapter of the NAACP is sponsoring its annual march starting at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 20 to celebrate the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. Participants will gather in the parking lot of the Mediacom Ice Park, 635 E. Trafficway. The march will travel westbound on Trafficway to Kimbrough, north on Kimbrough (Benton) to Tampa, west on Tampa to Jefferson, south on Jefferson to Park Central East, west on Park Central East to the Gillioz Theatre, where it will end. Springfield police will provide necessary traffic control to allow the estimated 400 participants safe passage along the event route. Drivers are advised to take alternate routes if possible that morning.
