The Sri Chinmoy Oneness-Home Peace Run is a global relay that seeks to promote international friendship and understanding. As a symbol of peace and harmony, runners carry a flaming torch, passing it from hand to hand whilst travelling through over 80 nations around the globe. The Sri Chinmoy Oneness-Home Peace Run does not seek to raise money or highlight any political cause, but simply strives to create goodwill among peoples of all nations. On Sunday, August 10, the Peace Runners passing through Portland, were welcomed at the Italian Heritage Center, and treated to breakfast with members of the Center. The IHC has been hosting the group every year for the past decade. The Peace Run, also known as the World Harmony Run, was founded by Sri Chinmoy in 1987. It is now an annual event with relay runs taking part in all different continents such as Africa, Europe, Americas, Asia and Australia.
