The Standells 2nd greatest hit Sometimes Good Guys Dont Wear White - TopicsExpress

The Standells 2nd greatest hit Sometimes Good Guys Dont Wear White was actually part of the Dirty Water album, but then placed in its own album, and released as the groups 2nd single. The song is probably one of the most covered Standells songs by groups such as Minor Threat, The Cramps and (later) the Vaccines. The Standells still do this song in concert today, and its still one of the audience favorites. A side note: According to the Standells biography Love That Dirty Water: The Standells and the Improbable Red Sox Victory Anthem the song didnt quite get the air play it should have. Back in late 60s most AM radio stations were modeled after two LA radio stations; KRLA, The Good Guys, and KHJ The Boss Jocks. As the story goes, most of the stations that assumed the Boss Jocks icon refused to play the song because it inadvertently referred to Good Guys. That’s rock history for you! https://youtube/watch?v=MwE4OPwer1Y
